JOB SUMMARY:

 

This position provides instructional services for Kingsview elementary students in a classroom setting. The Teacher collaborates in the effective operation of a Christian education program by supporting the goals and values of Kingsview Christian School and promotes and develops successful learning for students, performs instructional and related duties, instructs students, maintains student discipline, is responsible for student academic achievement, and maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents and students.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

   1.  Holds a valid teaching license as set forth by the Oregon Teacher Standards or ASCI teaching license and maintains current licenses required for the position.

 

    2.  Teaching staff will possess a BS or BA from an accredited college or university.

    3.  The ability to physically, emotionally, and successfully fulfill the terms of the KCS contract.

 

    4.  The ability to follow oral and written directions.

 

    5.  The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents and school personnel.

 

    6.  Proficient in the use of computer and internet based applications and the ability to learn new systems as they are bought online by Kingsview.

 

    7.  Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff and Kingsview families.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1.  Community of Faith:  Supports and implements the mission/philosophy of Kingsview Christian School.

 

       a.  Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.

 

       b.  Speaks, acts, and instructs students in a manner that is consistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

 

       c.  Develop in students both faith and morals.

 

       d. Participates in building the Christian faith.

 

2.  Instructional Process: 

 

     a.  Demonstrates evidence of prior planning and preparation. 

     b.  Organize instruction using learning objectives and clearly defined student outcomes.

 

     c.  Select teaching strategies that emphasize student involvement and engagement.

 

     d.  Develop and post clear classroom behavioral expectations.

 

     e.  Prepares report cards and progress reports; conferences with students, parents/guardians and other staff members; maintains open lines of communication.

 

     f.  Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, curriculum and instructional methods.

 

     g.  Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials and facilities.

 

     h.  Participates in staff meetings and professional development.

 

     i.  Attends work regularly and is punctual. 

 

     j.  Build professional and appropriate relationships with students and staff.

 

     k.  Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning; promotes high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities.

 

     l.  Plans an instructional lesson that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students; assists in the selection of curriculum, equipment and other instructional materials.

 

    m.  Follow and maintain knowledge of all applicable Kingsview policies and procedures.


 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Exercise working supervision over students and direct the work of educational assistants and volunteers.  All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
